The Cagey Shopkeeper
This is a small proof-of concept for an RPG conversation system. Type any word into the input box to ask the shopkeeper about it. Special follow-up questions may also appear; click on them to choose one of those responses. If he's waiting for a response to a direct question, you can't change the topic until you answer it.
One of the first open-world RPGs I played as a kid was Exile, by Jeff Vogel. In many RPGs conversations involve clicking through a list of questions until you've cleared them all, but Exile let you type in whatever word you wanted to ask about. There was always a possibility that the NPC knew something you hadn't thought to ask about, which made conversations feel less like a chore. I hope I've managed to reproduce that feeling here.
The opening art is from another of my projects. I may eventually put all these ideas together into a "real" game.
